Red Flowers Growing in Gardens - A Photo Gallery

I love that quote by Mark Twain, and I would agree. Flowers bring so much joy to our lives. I love all kinds of flowers, but red ones are especially nice because they have a built color scheme already going with their often green leaves. This makes them "pop" almost wherever they are. Even the most simple red flower, is quite beautiful against its own greenery. This is a dedication to red flowers everywhere.

Red Flower Photos

Photo 1 - This is a favorite kind of flower anyway, the zinnia. This particular red zinnia really struck my eye as its such a deep and pretty red color. Its a very "rich" color and is one I hope to grow in my own butterfly garden in the Summer. I have grown red ones before, but not like this one.

Photo 2 - These little pom shaped or round shaped red flowers were found growing in an herb garden. They add a touch of brightness, especially to an herb garden where we often don't necessarily see a lot of flower growth. Herb growers are most often going for the leaves, is what I mean, so that makes sense. So its a joy to see color like this, or at the end of the season where its a great time to let plant live out its life cycle.

Photo 3 - These red flowers are very delicate and not too big or showy. Upon closer examination one can see the delicate shape and beauty of these red flowers. I thought they were so pretty and the red itself is a very pretty red.

Photo 4 - This is a unique type of zinnia, a different zinnia than you are maybe used to seeing. I planted some new types of zinnia seeds this year, and this was one of them. Its a fun and different design, and is eye catching enough that my husband even commented on how much he liked this particular flower one day this Summer.That is pretty rare, so it stood out where it was.

Photo 5 - A red begonia flower. These are growing on my front porch still, even though we had a couple freezes. I am trying to keep track of what survives freezes as a lot of my favorites do not. A kind of simple flower yet so bright and pretty. I have these in a pink color as well.

Photo 6 - This is a unique flower growing tall up out of a neat succulent plant. I love the kind of subdued red color. This is one red flower I have never seen before. Its always fun to discover new flowers!

Photo 7 - This flower is thin and dainty, but has a very powerful bright red color as well as a neat shape to the flower. Its foliage is a lighter green, which adds a nice touch also.

Photo 8 - Ahh, I have to admit this may be my favorite, but its a mixture of zinnias in all different colors so its not totally fair. The majority of the flowers growing here are red, so they were included here. I hope to duplicate a form of this garden sometime.

Photo 9 - Bright red New Guinea impatiens flowers, on multi-colored green leaves. Very bright and bold for sure. These are often great in shade gardens, so to get this much "brightness" into a shade garden is a plus for sure.

Photo 10 - Simple but bold red geraniums. These are a perfect example of something that I was speaking of in the beginning. That is, having a simple red flower, and its own green foliage offsetting the colors to make them make a real statement. In fact, if you are like me, you have likely seen a little area brightened up by a small pot of blooming geraniums. They are great in window boxes, they truly liven up any space they are in.

Photo 11 - Bright Red Tulips - What better way to end a photo gallery of red flowers, than to share some bright red tulips? I absolutely love tulips and only wish they bloomed for a longer period of time. The bright red centers make them even more fun I think. They are not a shy bunch, that is for sure!

*One thing to keep in mind also, is that if you are a bird or butterfly lover, then red flowers may be a great choice as they draw in hummingbirds and some butterflies. I love them for many reasons, but this one is a super great one.
