Peach Cobbler - A Favorite Recipe To Share
Peach Cobbler, a summer favorite!
I love cobblers, and peach is no exception. This recipe, while it calls for peaches, recommends other substitutions, such as boysenberries, blackberries, apples, and blueberries. How about a combination of a couple or three of those? Really, there are no rules, and you can just do what you like.
I like the fact that even during the winter, when the normal fruits are not plentiful, you can buy frozen fruit at the market. You can get just about anything, and they freeze them fresh, as is. I know our family has made use of that option many times, whether for baking, or making smoothies, etc. I like this recipe best when the peaches are fresh and ripe, however. Experiment yourself and see what you like best.
Peach Cobbler
Ingredients:
Four cups of peeled and sliced peaches
One cup of sugar, then a separate 2 cups of sugar
One half cup of water
8 tablespoons of butter
1 and 1/2 cup of self rising flour
1 and 1/2 cup of milk
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Dash of nutmeg
(Directions below)
Directions for Peach Cobbler
Have oven preheated to 350 degrees
First, combine peaches, the one cup of sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and water in a saucepan and mix well. Bring to a boil, then simmer for about 10 minutes of until the peaches are soft. Remove peach mixture from the heat.
Put the butter in your baking dish, and put into the oven just to melt. Remove from the oven. In a separate bowl, mix in the 2 remaining cups of sugar, flour, and milk very slowly to prevent clumping. Pour this over the melted butter in pan, and do not stir.
Carefully spoon your fruit on top, and gently pour the rest of the syrup on top as well. The batter will be on the bottom, but will rise up during the baking process.
Bake this for about 30 - 45 minutes or until golden in color.
Serve by scooping on a plate, and adding either whipped cream, or my favorite, vanilla ice cream. Its fun to put the vanilla ice cream in a bowl, then scoop the peach cobbler on top, while its warm still.

Love peaches, use to sit under the tree and eat two or three at a time as a child. :) Congrats on your win today! :0
Luck is with you! Love peach cobbler. I almost went with that instead of the bread pudding. But I have to say, I think this recipe calls for too much sugar. Being a diabetic, I would have to cut the sugar in half. I'll bet it would still taste just as good!
Thanks James, I appreciate you stopping by and your comment and congrats.
Hi Money Glitch, thanks for your comment, and that sounds wonderful to sit under a tree and eat a few peaches. Thank you for the congratulations, I am so excited!
Hi Austinstar, Thank you for coming by and reading and commenting. Yes, I bet that it would still be good with the sugar cut in half. Peaches, being so naturally sweet definitely help. Thank you again
