My 11:11 Story - A Very Strange Experience That is Ongoing

Over two decades ago, something very interesting began in my life. I wish I could remember the exact time it began, but it was more of a slow realization over time that began to almost grow to an eerie feel at times. What started out as funny experienc, got a little serious and unusual, and is now lighthearted again. What I am speaking of is what I am calling my 11:11 experience. One could say its a phenomenon of sorts because I found out it happens to other people too. Could it be nothing? Sure it could be! There is almost a whole movement now however, and has been in place for some time. Before you get too skeptical, please keep reading, and I will try to convey why I began to take it so seriously. Probably the oddest turn it took, was that its a universal experience that some have taken to a whole new level. Well that, and the fact that it comes and goes as it wants to. What I am about to explain, happens in spurts.

What is the big deal about seeing 11:11?

Here is how it started. It was very subtle at first. In short, I will see 11:11 on any digital clock, sometimes twice a day in the am and pm. Then, I will see it more than that, off and on several times a week. What I mean is, that I will see the 11:11 as I am walking around, and kind of groan, "there it is again!" One has to admit, that this could happen and does happen to people every day. So what is the big deal, right? Well, when you are not ever trying to look for it, and you keep seeing it, then that begins to get a little bit more odd. Add to this, that I see it say running out to the store at 11:11 am one day. I drive up the road, only to notice a digital clock on the bank that I never noticed before, and IT says, 11:11, several minutes later! So what I began to notice, is that no matter how "off" my clock or the banks clock was off, "I" would happen to see the time when it was in that 60 second time frame that said 11:11. Suddenly I became aware of all the digital clocks in town, whether at stores, shopping centers, banks, you name it.

Still, one could easily say, "Well you are just getting used to the idea, and you are subconsciously looking for it now, without realizing it." Could be.... This was about the time I met my new roommate at college and before long, she heard about this story too. It came up because I came in one night, after a long week of seeing my multiple 11:11's over and over, and I walked in the dorm room and told her I was going to study some. She said she was going to bed around 11:30 or so, so I asked her what time it was. Guess what time it was? 11:11. I kind of had a look on my face when she said that, so she said what is it, and I told her about the 11:11 "thing"She thought it funny, and shrugged it off saying, "Oh I see that sometimes too, or 10:10, or 3:33.." and that kind of thing. I often get this, and it makes me wonder about other people and other numbers too. Its all probably NOTHING, right?

Well..... it was fun and uncanny and often we laughed about it. One week with this same friend, it had happened a few times where she was around or we were passing, and the topic kept coming up. That night, she got creeped out when I came in late and opened the door to our room at exactly....11:11. She got the chills, and didn't say a word. I asked her what was wrong, and she just pointed at the clock. I need to be completely honest here.... I didn't WANT this to keep happening, it truly began to get kind of creepy! NO ONE could make this happen so often, no one just "sees" this sequence of numbers so much, that they get almost unnerved the next time they see it.

We learned to listen to my mom's advice, that it was something having to do with good luck! Yeah, that had to be it! Maybe your angels are near when you see 11:11, I heard it said. Hey, that sounds great, right? We just had fun with it, and our friends got a kick out of it.

Later long after college, and when I had young kids it came back for a strong "spurt", one could say. We were living in Texas. Let me tell you, when it begins, it really hits strong. So here is how it started again. It began with the clock of course at night, on a night I went to bed LONG BEFORE 11:11, and I woke up, looked over and guess what? It was 11:11pm. I couldn't believe it!! Of course, I was running errands the next day, and didn't want to see it, but I saw it when I came back home and was making cookies. I had the timer on, it was counting down. I was doing laundry and walked by the timer, and for ONE SECOND only, could it say 11:11 on that digital timer on the microwave, and guess when I walked by and saw it? 11:11. I am beginning to get creeped out you can imagine.

Not being alarmed or anything, I went about my day. I had to go to Walmart that evening. I didn't have cash, and so was writing a check. Can you guess what the amount was? The cashier says to me, "that will be $11.11." I looked up at her and stared a minute.... I couldn't beleive it. The next day, I was getting gas after dropping my son off at school. I was going to get 10.00 of gas in my little car. I tried to stop the pump at $10.00 and it got stuck. Guess when I got it "unstuck?" At eleven dollars and eleven cents. I kid you not.

This is where you maybe won't believe the story (if you are believing it at all!). I was in the store on another day, and was paying with twenty dollar bills for something. Can you take a leap of a wild guess at what my CHANGE was? The man said, "and $11.11 is your change." It almost took my breath away. To top it off, I went somewhere else, with my husbands checkbook to pay for something, and they needed the check number for records. They asked what the check number was, and it was... DRUMROLL..... Check #1111.

Can you just maybe begin to get a feel for WHY the numbers 11 11 are so important to me, or stand out to me? Keep in mind, these weren't all in subsequent days, right in a row, but nearly so. This doesn't take into account all the other times I still woke up to see 11:11 at the am or pm hours, or take into account how I get stuck behind trucks or cars that have tags or license plates with 11:11. IF there was really anything behind the whole 11:11 thing, it was seeming to TRY and get my attention.

Spirit Prompts, or Guardians, or Angels? A Movement?

It came about one day, that my mother called me from California to tell me of a very good friend of hers that experienced the VERY same level of 11:11's I did practically! She was so moved by the numbers, she ended up getting married to her husband on November 11, at 11:11am, to celebrate it, so to speak. She told my mom to warn me though, that if I go to look it up online, to not get worried, that there is a LOT of weird stuff out there on 11:11. People even meet up around the world. I never did look too much into it, though it did seem interesting. Maybe I ought to! I did talk to a relative once that is involved in numerology, and many other things. She had some very interesting thoughts on it, but was also perplexed by it more than anything.

I am thankful for my life and even the goofy 11:11 experience I still have in spurts on occasion. I just can't help but to see it, on highways, on dates, even when I look back at an email I sent at, guess what time? Or guess when I received an email?! Or when the VCR stops and blinks on again, though we all have seen that one! In honor of 11/11/2011 coming up here very soon, I write this hub for that special day! Thanks for keeping things interesting, 11:11, and making me smile and "wonder" at what more is going on than meets the eye. Its just too uncanny, to be coincidence anymore.

My family has fun with it, maybe too much fun!

I have been called into a child's room a few times, only to be told, "look mom!" My son would be pointing to 11:11 on the clock thinking I would love to see it! Or better yet, my family teases me when I go into the kitchen to see the clock on the oven set to 11:11, and the microwave, and the radio in the kitchen, etc. ALL AT ONCE...they think they are so funny! haha, the jokes on me. So we have learned to keep it light and have fun with it.
