Whistler is Beautiful

Going to Whistler is an amazing experience. It is ideal for both a leisurely stay, or a day visit. It is somewhat of an upscale resort, which is about a 3 hours drive north of Vancouver. Surrounded by lakes and mountains, the views are breathtaking, the air is crisp and clean, and the flora and fauna really will catch your eye. There are surrounding villages to visit and its a haven for skiers just about year round, as there is snow on the upper tips of the mountains all year long.

There are many activities to take part in which are enjoyable and memorable. Some sights you don't want to miss out on, are the topic of this hub. Try to make sure you see these places if you ever get a chance to visit Whistler, as they are my top picks and were recommended to me.

For those interested in shops and the like, you don't want to miss the Villages.  There is Whistler Village, Upper Village and Village North.  There is  neat activity center as well, called Creekside, that you may want to look into.

Two mountains, Whistler and Blackcomb

The two main mountains around Whistler are Blackcomb Mountain, and Whistler Mountain.  They are side by side and you can experience incredible views of these mountains and from these mountains looking outward.  The valleys are breathtaking as well.  If you get the chance, go on the gondolas and lift chairs to see all the views of and from these two majestic mountains.  I have to admit, the first time I heard the word gondola while in whistler, I was picturing something like you might see in Venice Italy, but this is another type of gondola.  Very worthwhile to go on, though the lifts were my favorite. I went in the summertime, and since I am not a big skier myself, it is probably when I would like to go back again.

Alta Lake

Alta Lake is the home to what was once the Rainbow Lodge.  Rainbow Lodge was Whistler's first resort.  The lake is breathtaking, and is a perfect spot for all kinds of activities.  We saw people swimming, picnicking, hiking, biking, and kayaking.  You can do some neat exploration like I did while walking the lake's perimeter.  There is some paved trail, but I like to go off the trail some too, where allowed.  People go windsurfing there too.  My time was short at Alta Lake, and if we get to go back, I hope to go there again.

Whistler Mountain in the Summer

Green Lake

Green lake is possible due to the melting snow off of the mountains, and is truly green in color though clear and beautiful.  Many canoeists love it here, and you can see some of the highest peaks of surrounding mountains from there.  The large Mount Currie can be seen and it is just beautiful.  One of the things I loved most was the wildflowers growing around these areas.

Valley Trail

Valley Trail is 12 miles of beauty just waiting to be taken in.  It is about 20 km long, and you can find walkers, cyclists, and skaters on this trail.  While on this trail, you can see Lost Lake, Alpha Lake, Nita Lake, and Rainbow Park.  Its hard to imagine this initially, but this trail turns into a cross country ski trail.  I imagine that has to be truly amazing to experience!
