The Peacefulness of Creeks, Streams and Brooks

I think since I was a young girl, I have admired and grown to love water in nature. That might sound odd to some, but to others, you may know exactly what I mean. The ocean is like a king size version of these smaller ponds or streams, but the smaller ones are still very special. They can bring peace and tranquility to anyone nearby.

Over the last several years, I have grown to love and visit Botanical Gardens wherever and whenever I can. It is in places like these and elsewhere, that you can find lovely bubbling brooks and streams and little creeks. Of course, many of these are man made, so they lack the complete natural setting one might find them in, but that doesn't matter a whole lot to me. I mean in the sense that I truly enjoy these creations, as does the surrounding wildlife.

To think back to my college days in Georgia, especially in north east Georgia, you could see so many beautiful creeks and rivers like this. They were all natural! Add to that, people building little bridges to cross said streams and the effect was lovely and charming. Can you recall a time when you heard that kind of water bubbling along, that sound? I absolutely love it.

Am I Alone in my love for creeks, rivers and streams?

Judging by many different things, I think that others also love little bodies of water and creaks or streams. I have a piece of art in my room, of a covered bridge over a creek. If you go to an art gallery or museum, you will find these things have been motivational for some time.

I think it is because it alerts many of the senses, and is often a joy to find, say for hikers needing to refill their canteens! Fresh water coming down from a fresh spring is no small thing to a thirsty hiker or camper.

My Walk Down Memory Lane

Thanks for indulging my little walk down memory lane. It continues on as I recall my boys and I fishing in little creeks and streams, or lakes. Their grandfathers have been part of that too. What very precious memories these are to me! They truly mean so much and warm my heart.

In my own backyard now, while I don't have a bubbling brook all the time, I do sometimes! Let me explain. We have a man made created water run off that starts up at the top of the block behind us. It lets the water run off following the natural trail it might have taken before the neighborhood was built. Now, it runs down in a more concentrated fashion, behind into the common ground area. So every now and then, when we get a big storm, we get little bubbling brooks! I will take what I can get in this regard.

I hope you enjoy as I do, some of these photos of little creeks and streams. I know that to see photos is better than not being able to be around them at all.

There is some very special calming soothing quality about these smaller versions of their uncles and fathers, the oceans and rivers, and seas. A peace settles over me as I take time to enjoy the moments near them. The pictures made me feel as though I joined you.

Hello Pstraubie, I agree with you in what you said about the uncles and fathers, oceans and rivers. I love how you put that. It is very peaceful to me also. So glad you stopped by and left a comment, as it is much appreciated.
