Bright Orange Colored Flowers
Bright orange colored flowers are so bold in garden design, and they add such a cheerfulness to things outdoors. Ever since I started paying more attention to these flowers, the more I love the color orange in a flower. Generally speaking, I wouldn't ever say that orange is a favorite color of mine. As I see, orange is a perfect compliment to other colors I do love, like purple and green, or a combination of those. Periwinkle blue and orange is another lovely combination. I have seen orange, red and yellow make a beautiful combination as well.
This hub is just a gathering of photos that i have taken over time, of flowers that are bright orange in color.
Photo 1 - A bright orange bearded iris in all its glory. This is one that I haven't seen too often. Imagine this flower with some periwinkle or deep purple irises. Doesn't that sound so nice?
Photos 2 and 3 - These are bright orange poppies, both close up and further away. These flowers with papery petals are so pretty, in my opinion. I love the buds and everything about them, including how they blow in the breeze.
Photo 4 - The beautiful, bright orange tiger lily is a favorite of mine. Again, I don't even really care for the color orange, but every year in my garden when these come up, they are so cheerful and bright! I absolutely love them, as does my family. After a winter of cloudy skies, and some cold and snow, these just warm up the landscape. They are a favorite of mine now.
Photos 5 and 6 - These photos are of marigolds, with some slight variances. These are a unique smelling flower, very interesting. I like how relatively easy they are to grow, even from seed. Maybe, especially from seeds. I have had great luck. You can see a large bumble bee enjoying a marigold and who could blame him? I also have found these to be easy to let go at the end of a season, and collect the seed heads for use the next year. You can pass along the joy and beauty of these for free, pretty much!
Photos 7 & 8 - Two different zinnias, with two different scenarios going on. The first one is a peppermint stick zinnia, with orange and red inside of it. It is almost a golden yellow, but more orange than anything. The second one has no other colors on the petals, but has a beautiful almost reddish tint to it. These are perfect for attracting butterflies as well.
Photo 9 - Begonia, or wax begonia in bright orange color. I love begonias more and more over time, and don't recall seeing such a color of begonia as this before. Perhaps they are more common than I realize, but I have seen more of pinks, red, and white. So this was a real treat.
Photo 10 - Another sweet orange zinnia, next to another that is about to open up, though it is another color. Perfect for the butterfly garden, you can't go wrong with this flower.

Hi Becky, I bet those tiger lilies were lovely, I think the more the merrier. I agree about the marigolds, and need to remember to plant them near the vegetables. Like Becky...when I had a huge vegetable garden in Wisconsin, I planted marigolds as an insect repellent and it seemed to work. I also had my grandmother's orange tiger lilies growing there. I still remember the glorious orange poppies seen growing in California on a vacation trip. All colors are beautiful when seen in nature. Thanks for another pretty and interesting hub.
I spend a ton of time walking around in my backyard with my camera. Probably took several thousand pictures since I moved here almost two years ago.

Peggy, thank you so much, and those orange poppies in California, at times can be breathtaking say on a hillside. I absolutely love those California poppies. My mom had tiger lilies all down the side of her house. They are truly lovely. Marigolds always end up in my yard. The scent isn't so great but they are so cheerful in all their colors and they are very easy to grow. They also act as a natural insect repellent in your garden. I plant them near my tomatoes.
